Nice place & pool and clean ammenities

I booked for two nights but couldn't bring myself to return for the second night and booked in elsewhere. This motel was beyond unacceptable. I didn't realise that reception closed at 6 pm and I arrived shortly thereafter. my key was in a lockbox. I should have realised my error in choice the moment I opened the door and put things on the bench to only see a small cockroach scurry out from underneath the cups and cutlery. Then I closed the curtain only to have the rod fall down and hit me on the head. I barricaded the door with the two cracked vinyl chairs in the room as there was no safety chain or bar on the door. I luckily had a toolbox with me and unscrewed a towel rail as I needed to block the bathroom window from being opened as it had no catch on it. there was only a single blanket on the shelf to use for the bed, as there was no blanket on the bed and only a slippery synthetic bedspread atop the sheets. I felt extremely unsafe in this motel without any way to lock the window which was large and at ground height. When I was packing up and leaving I looked at the outside wall of my room and it was piled high almost to the eaves with rubbish and rubble- toilets, basins, gas bottles, cupboards, plastic bread crates etc etc. I needn't have worried about an intruder accessing the rear of my room by this way, though the other way around the building was clear of rubbish. In all my years travelling Australia and overseas, this has been my worst experience in accommodation.
